Russian scientists have developed a unique technology for extracting xenon from air for medical purposes, providing medics with extra pure xenon.
Such a level of purity, 99.9998%, allows the use of the rare gas for important medical purposes such as anaesthetics during surgery and in the therapy of various diseases and ‘chronic fatigue’.
Xenon is an inert gas which doesn’t interact with other chemical elements, making its extraction from air extremely difficult from a technological perspective.
The Russian innovation involves several stages, including cryogenic rectification, sorption, catalytic reactions and exclusive purification techniques from various dangerous components, which result in getting extra pure gas. The unit is capable of producing 30m/3 of xenon per hour and no analogies of this kind exist in the world to date.
