Japan, Indonesia to collaborate on energy transition efforts

An agreement has been signed between representatives of Japan and Indonesia that will see the countries work together to help implement and advance energy transition technology.

The partnership was formed following the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on the ‘Realisation of Energy Transitions’ by Hagiuda Koichi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan, and Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Indonesia. 

Arifin said that the agreement represents an ‘extraordinary effort’ from the Japanese side, adding that international support is required for Indonesia to reach net zero emissions by 2060.
