JC Carter aids efficiency with Ice Breaker® nozzle

JC Carter, an international manufacturer, was recently awarded Registered Trademark status for the Ice Breaker® nozzle.

The Ice Breaker® nozzle features patented technology that manages the freezing temperatures and ice associated with connecting and disconnecting at liquid natural gas/cryogenic fuelling stations. Sam Safi, JC Carter’s Product Manager, explained, “The Ice Breaker® technology is a three-latch innovation that shears away ice during the fueling of commercial vehicles powered by liquid natural gas or other cryogenic fuels. It’s much more efficient than nitrogen purging or manually breaking away ice to disconnect a refueling nozzle.”

Safi described just some of the benefits with this nozzle innovation. He added, “Clean energy fuel station owners and operators appreciate the ability to service more commercial vehicles in a day. Using JC Carter’s Ice Breaker® Nozzle, the average commercial vehicle refuels in less than 5 minutes. Other refueling technologies are known to be timely to disconnect due to the freezing of the extremely cold temperatures around the couplings.

JC Carter was founded in 1947 and constitutes the world’s first designer and manufacturer of cryogenic submerged motor pumps (SMP). Today, the firm continues to forward SMP technology with its third generation pumps. In addition, the company also provides liquid natural gas (LNG) nozzles designed to meet the needs of a variety of natural gas applications.
