A landmark direct air capture (DAC) development is set to permanently remove five million tonnes of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) annually by 2030 in Wyoming.
US-based CarbonCapture on Thursday (8th Sept) announced a new partnership with Frontier Carbon Solutions to develop Project Bison, with hopes that it will be operational at the end of next year (2023).
It is believed to be the first atmospheric carbon removal facility to use Class V1 wells for permanent storage as well as the first massively scalable DAC project in the US.
Adrian Corless, CEO and Chief Technology Officer of CarbonCapture, said, “With the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, the proliferation of companies seeking high-quality carbon removal credits, and a disruptive low-cost technology, we now have the ingredients needed to scale DAC to megaton levels by the end of this decade.”
