The world’s first LNG-powered ultra-large containership, named CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE and the first in a new fleet of nine French-flagged, 23,000-TEU LNG-powered containerships, has been launched in China.
The vessel was constructed at the Shanghai Jiangnan-Changxing Shipyard of Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, for the CMA CGM Group.
Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co. Ltd is a subsidiary company of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited.
The CMA CGM Group will receive 20 LNG-powered containerships by 2022, and among these, Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding has received the order for five 23,000 TEU containerships.
