Air Liquide has announced its entry into the Colombian market with a €40m investment in a new carbon dioxide (CO2) production plant and cogeneration unit.
The new facility in Tocancipá is expected to begin commercial production in late 2016.
The investment comes under a contract with Coca-Cola FEMSA, the largest bottler of Coca-Cola products in the world and the largest beverage company in Latin America.
Under the terms of the agreement, Air Liquide will supply CO2 as well as nitrogen, electricity, refrigerated water, compressed air and steam to Coca-Cola FEMSA’s largest bottling facility in Colombia, in Tocancipá, Cundinamarca, around 40km north of the country’s capital, Bogotá.
