License granted to explore ‘major’ helium prospect in France

Helium exploration company 45-8 Energy has been granted the Avant-Monts Franc-Comtois licence having discovered a prospective interest in helium in the Avants-Monts of Jura area, in central-eastern France.

Having been granted a 5-year Exploration License for helium and related resources by the French State, 45-8 plans to carry out an ‘ambitious’ first exploratory phase which will consist primarily of data acquisition. 

By creating geological maps of the 306km2 (118mi2) area, taking soil gas samples and geophysical measurements, the company will be able to build an indirect image of the subsurface. 

If preliminary results are encouraging, 45-8 may utilise ‘one or many’ shallow depth surveys to further confirm the extent of the prospect.
