Linde Engineering will develop a 24MW green hydrogen plant in Norway for chemicals company Yara as it makes its first step towards the decarbonisation of the ammonia industry.
To be located at the Heroya Industry Park, the site will be capable of producing approximately 10,000kg of hydrogen daily with proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology supplied from UK-based ITM Power.
Green hydrogen from the site will be used to partially replace grey hydrogen that is currently used at Yara’s ammonia plant.
Hydrogen from the plant will be enough to create 20,500 tonnes of ammonia annually, which can be converted to between 60,000 and 80,000 tonnes of green fertilizer.
