Linde Gases, a division of The Linde Group, is to install a major central gas supply system at the Lappeenranta University of Technology.
Lappeenranta is one of Finland’s leading science and technology education facilities, and the installation, scheduled for completion in October, will help enable research into the areas of welding technology for metals and the latest chemical and separation technology sciences for the process industries.
The central gas system, which represents the largest installation of its kind in Finland, is part of REDLINE® – Linde’s specialty gases equipment product range. The extensive system will transport research gases, including key welding gases such as argon and propane, to over 400 points of use throughout the 5-story building, which will house multiple research laboratories.
“This is an important contract for Linde, not only in Finland, but also across the Nordic region,” said Head of Specialty Gases and Specialty Equipment at Linde, Stephen Harrison. “Lappeenranta University of Technology has invested heavily in their new laboratory facilities and it is testament to both our technology leadership in the area of managing the transportation of high purity gases and to our design and engineering capabilities, that Lappeenranta awarded us this project.”
