The State of North-Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany, is presenting an internationally unique, innovative solution for supplying vehicles with hydrogen, just in time for the 2006 World Cup: a mobile hydrogen (H2) refuelling unit with which it is possible to refuel both with liquid hydrogen (LH2) and gaseous hydrogen (CGH2) completely autonomous.
During the soccer World Cup, this system will be used to refuel hydrogen-powered vehicles which are to be used at various match locations in NRW. With this prototype, the ˜traiLH2â„¢, technology leader Linde AG, Linde Gas Division, is once again demonstrating that use of the alternative energy carrier on a wide scale is now within tangible reach.
The company has been involved for many years in almost all major hydrogen projects worldwide. The know-how that it has thus gained throughout the entire value chain, from production and liquefaction, transport and storage up to the use of the hydrogen forms the basis for the new mobile, independent hydrogen fuelling unit in the automotive sector.
The project is being supported by the State of North-Rhine-Westphalia with the amount of € 450,000. This commitment underscores the State’s leading role in the development and distribution of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies.
