Linde to construct a 2MW electrolyser plant and ASU in Austria to serve the semiconductor industry

Linde has today (18th August) unveiled plans to build, own and operate a two-megawatt electrolyser plant in Austria to supply the semiconductor industry with green hydrogen.

To be developed at an Infineon Technologies site, the plant will produce hydrogen by utilising proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology from UK-based ITM Power.

Formalising the plans, Linde has inked a long-term agreement with Infineon Technologies for the on-site production and storage of high-purity green hydrogen, alongside other industrial gases.

The move will mark the first-time green hydrogen is used in Infineon’s semiconduction manufacturing process as part of the company’s plane to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
