LNG Alliance ensuring energy security for landlocked Balkan nations

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) specialist LNG Alliance is ensuring that landlocked nations in the Balkan region can access natural gas amidst a global energy crisis that continues to threaten countries without an established LNG supply infrastructure.

Destabilised by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, Europe’s gas supply has witnessed major disruption, causing coastal nations to focus on increasing energy security by establishing new terminals and floating storage regasification units (FSRUs).

For landlocked Balkan nations LNG Alliance is constructing the Bar LNG Terminal in Montenegro, which will serve Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Serbia, Albania, and the southern region of Hungary.

Having completed prefeasibility studies for the terminal earlier this year, LNG Alliance also signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Port of Bar for further advanced studies for the FSU-based 0.4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) import terminal.
