Gibraltar continues to work round-the-clock to contain diesel from a bulk carrier after it collided with an LNG vessel.
According to a latest statement from HM Goverrnment of Gibraltar, ”The situation has remained stable with continuous pumping out of diesel from the OS 35 vessel overnight. The latest figures show 197 cubic metres of diesel have been removed from the vessel as of 0700 today. This represents around 80% of the vessel’s diesel load now successfully removed.”
Continuous monitoring has been in place throughout the night including drone and land based thermal imaging.
The 289m ADAM LNG vessel, which is eight years old, appears to have suffered no significant damage, except for a superficial dent to its bulbous bow, which is currently submerged 1.2m in the sandy seabed.
