The London Hydrogen Network Expansion project (LHNE) has smashed two new distance records for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs) in an experiment dubbed the ‘Tour de M25.’
Firstly, the partners of the LHNE project have broken the record for the longest journey in the UK on a single tank of hydrogen (H2) by travelling 400 miles in one go. Secondly, the FCEV also travelled 6,096 miles over the course of six days to break the record for the longest continuous journey, previously standing at 6,024.
The project, led by Tier One player Air Products, completed around 50 laps of the M25 motorway, plus extra mileage to and from the four publicly-available H2 refuelling stations located in London, Heathrow, Swindon and Rotheram.
