Industrial gases producer Praxair Inc. revealed recently that its Praxair China subsidiary has signed a long-term supply contract with Anhui HuaYi Chemical Co, for the supply of fine and specialty chemicals.
Anhui Hua Yi Chemical is an affiliate of Shanghai HuaYi Co, one of the largest chemical groups in China. Terms of the newly announced deal were not disclosed.
What has been revealed however, is that the agreement will see Praxair China build another of the largest single-train air separation plants in Asia. The plant, due to be opened in early 2011, will supply 3,000 tonnes of oxygen per day for the Wuwei coking project of Anhui HuaYi, which is located in Anhui Province.
Praxair is building a similar plant for another Chinese customer in Jiangsu Province, with both plants to supply oxygen to gasification units which will provide feedstock to the chemical industry.
