McDermott advances net zero goal, completes LNG construction study for Shell

US-based energy solutions company McDermott has completed its liquefied natural gas (LNG) construction study on behalf of energy giant Shell.

The study was intended to identify realistic ways to achieve net zero construction emissions, resulting in a strategic framework for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in LNG facilities during the construction phase of the project. 

Commenting on the project, Samik Mukherjee, Executive Vice President, COO, McDermott, said, “Leveraging our unique LNG and modularisation expertise, McDermott has developed multiple, innovative pathways to reduce and/or eliminate emissions throughout the life cycle of an LNG facility.” 

He added that he believes up to 65% of construction related emissions can be eliminated by utilising relevant efficiency, modularisation, and targeted investment.
