Industrial gas specialist Messer has today (October 1st) taken over operations at a nitrogen production facility in Rehden, Germany as part of an investment with partner Nowega.
The plant, capable of continuously producing up to 13,000 normal cubic metres of nitrogen per hour, will mitigate the use of 16 road tanker deliveries a day, equating to a daily reduction of up to 3.7 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
In addition to a significant reduction in noise pollution, the nitrogen does not need to be liquefied as part of the on-site production process, avoiding up to 41.2 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions per day.
Together the partners will reduce negative emissions by up to 16,400 metric tonnes per year.
