Mexico Pacific Ltd, ConocoPhillips partner to advance low carbon LNG

To advance the global energy transition and help decarbonise industry, Mexico Pacific Limited (MPL), liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project developer, has inked a deal with ConocoPhillips LNG licensing to work together on the MPL LNG Project future phases.

The collaboration will aim to reduce emissions by reducing transit times when transporting LNG to Asian markets and also exploring energy transition reduction technologies developed by ConocoPhillips and designed by Bechtel.

Recognising that LNG will play a significant role in the global energy transition, Douglas Shanda, CEO, President, MPL, said, “We are constantly evolving our business strategies to further reduce our carbon footprint, and this cutting-edge initiative provides opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by seeking to curtail the production of emissions, rather than just capturing or reporting them.”

ConocoPhillips will help support the project by designing LNG trains based on its OCP Pro technology. The technology matches gas turbine drivers to a refrigerant compression system, giving higher annual availability and a greater turndown capability for LNG trains.
