Mitsubishi Heavy Industries advances ‘Mission Net Zero’ with CO2 capture

Two group companies of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd (MHI) will advance its mission to achieve net zero emissions with the company’s first project that aims to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from gas engine flue gas.

As part of the project, MHI Engineering (MHIENG) and MHI Engine & Turbocharger (MHIET) will launch demonstration testing of the company’s CO2 capture technology in MHIET’s gas engine generator sets. 

Set to begin in July, the ten-month project is part of MHI Group’s aim to reduce emissions to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. 

Marking the first project of its kind for the company, it will involve a compact CO2 capture system being installed at MHIET’s Sagamihara Plant in Japan.
