Shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has completed its concept study of the multiple hull forms for a liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) carrier undertaken with Mitsubishi Shipbuilding (MSB).
The carrier is set to play a key role in the ‘clean energy transition’, by transporting captured CO2 to areas where it will either be utilised or stored.
The multi-hull designs were considered the most effective and practical, with high volumes of CO2 resulting in a tank capacity of up to around 50,000m3.
