Japanese shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) has signed charter contracts with Russian gas producer NOVATEK for four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.
Due for delivery in 2024, the carriers will be constructed at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and are to be equipped with MAN Energy Solutions fuel efficient engines.
To meet its ‘MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.1’, MOL will utilise a more environmentally friendly design which reduces boil-off gas and a shaft generator system that generates power via a rotating propeller shaft.
