Qatari shipping company Nakilat has taken delivery of its third of four liquefied natural gas (LNG) newbuild carriers to be delivered to Global Shipping Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Nakilat and Maran Ventures Inc.
Built by South Korea-based Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), the ‘Global Sea Spirit’ vessel has a carrying capacity of 174,000 cubic metres and uses fuel efficient X-DF engines.
Boasting lower carbon emissions, the LNG vessels all have lower boil-off rates and are equipped with onboard reliquefication units.
With an aim to gain a ‘greater competitive edge’ in the dynamic energy transportation sector, Abdullah Al Sulaiti, CEO Eng., Nakliat, said, “This will further solidify our position as a globally leader in the LNG shipping and maritime industry.”
