US carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) specialist Navigator CO2 Ventures (Navigator) will provide its carbon capture, transport, and usage/storage services via the Heartland Greenway system for three ethanol biorefineries located in West Burlington, Iowa.
Having signed a letter of intent with biorefinery operator Big River United Energy, LLC (Big River) and subsidiary Big River Resources, LLC, Navigator will supply capture-to-end use CCUS services that aims to capture an annual volume of one million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) for 20 years.
Big River is one of the US’ largest private biorefining platforms, producing 425m gallons of fuel grade bioethanol per year.
