Nel signs deal for two 60MW electrolyser plants in Germany

Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS (Nel), a subsidiary of Nel ASA, will work together with HH2E to undertake a Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) study for two 60 megawatt (MW) electrolyser plants which will be among the largest green hydrogen production plants in Europe.

Having also signed a Letter of Intent for the plants, the companies will commence the FEED after a firm purchase order is made.

According to Nel, both facilities are currently in the first phase and can be ‘significantly’ expanded with an aim for 4 gigawatts (GW) of electrolyser capacity in Germany by 2030.

“These projects are important for the energy transition in Germany and Europe, and we are excited to support HH2E in their efforts to create a greener society,” commented Hakon Volldal, CEO of Nel.
