“To be the largest demonstration of fuel cell-range extender trucks to date” is the main objective of a groundbreaking project targeting sustainable and clean urban waste transportation in Europe, which launched this week.
Unveiled in Brussels, Belgium, yesterday, the REVIVE project will look at advancing the state of development of fuel cell trucks for waste transportation and will deploy garbage trucks throughout seven European sites; Antwerp In Belgium, Amsterdam, Breda, Groningen, Helmond, Rooendaal and South Tyrol in Italy. The project will also demonstrate how hydrogen (H2) refuelling stations with large daily demands can be commercially viable.
A press release highlighted, “This is the first project of its kind and will be the occasion to boost commercialisation of heavy duty fuel cell trucks while demonstrating the added-value of this zero-emission technology for the environment and public.”
