The complexity of decarbonising shipping is underlined by the prospect of no ‘winner takes all’ alternative fuel and technology, according to DNV’s Maritime Forecast to 2050 report released today.
Knut Orbeck-Nilsson, CEO Maritime, DNV, said while the push to decarbonisation is accelerating, particularly in the US and Europe, the biggest obstacle to overcome is fuel availability.
