Norway-based Horisont Energi (Horisont) has confirmed that it will work with Norwegian industrial area Haugaland Næringspark to locate the Errai carbon capture and storage (CCS) project – Norway’s first commercial carbon dioxide (CO2) project.
Equipped with existing infrastructure including access to fibre, electricity, water, and sewage, and featuring a large harbour basin with a deep-sea quay, the site will receive CO2 from both European and Norwegian customers, including from the planned terminal in Port of Rotterdam.
Announced on 26th August, 2022, Horisont and Koole Terminals will develop a terminal and storage facility at the Port of Rotterdam which will handle both clean ammonia and CO2.
A collaboration between Hirsont and Neptune Energy (Neptune), the Errai project aims to satiate the heightened demand for CO2 storage in Europe.
