OX2 to explore potential for offshore hydrogen pipeline in the Baltic Sea

Sweden-based offshore windfarm solar PV farm developer OX2 will investigate the possibility of developing new offshore pipeline infrastructure for the transportation of sustainably produced green hydrogen between Finland, Åland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.

Announced today (16th Dec), OX2 has partnered with gas transmission system operators Gasgrid Finland, Nordion Energy and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners as part of the Baltic Sea Hydrogen Collector (BHC) project – a large-scale, cross-border collection and transportation infrastructure for green hydrogen.

The project aims to create a hydrogen market and connect supply and demand in Bothnia Bay and the Baltic Sea Region and Central Europe, according to OX2.

The pipeline may also be connected to energy islands in the region, such as Gotland in Sweden and Bornholm in Denmark.
