Patent granted for latest sensor

RAE Systems Inc, a leading global provider of rapidly deployable sensor networks to identify safety threats, has announced that it has been granted a US patent for its first Solid Polymer Electrolyte (SPE) Oxygen sensor.

The sensor technology, for which the patent included 54 claims, will be used for applications in the industrial safety and first responder markets worldwide.

Between 3 and 5 million oxygen sensors are currently being deployed in industrial applications and the new SPE O2 sensor is already available in RAE System’s QRAE II four-gas monitor.

Peter Hsi, of the chief technology office for RAE Systems, said, “With the growing number of global Reduction of Hazardous Substances (ROHS) directives, we are proud to be the first to bring a lead-free oxygen sensor to the market.”
