Peru’s first small-scale LNG facility nears completion

Okra Energy has announced it has installed Peru’s first small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility to support increasing energy demands of developing countries with little or no pipeline infrastructure.

CEO Louis Ravenet said constructing the plant is a significant achievement for both the LNG industry and the greater South American economy, adding, “Peruvians will now enjoy the benefits of a virtual pipeline that provides clean-burning natural gas energy that was previously inaccessible. We are proud to be the industry leader in affordable ssLNG technology, key to the growth of emerging markets, worldwide.”

According to the company, the majority of the new facility’s supply of LNG in northern Peru is already pre-sold to “one of the largest steel manufacturers in the western hemisphere” with the balance under contract for delivery in early 2018. Subsequent ssLNG facilities are currently under contract negotiation.
