Japanese energy company Hiroshima Gas has received its first carbon neutral liquefied natural gas (CNLNG) cargo from Petronas, through its subsidiary Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd.
The delivery marks another step in Petronas’ roadmap to reduce emissions and follows a recent announcement by the company to develop a ‘Masterplan’ alongside the Sabah State Government, which will examine the potential for expanding liquefied natural gas (LNG) distribution.
Commenting on the CNLNG shipment, Shamsairi Ibrahim, Vice President of LNG Marketing & Trading, Petronas, said, “Providing cleaner energy solutions through carbon offsets will not only positively impact the LNG industry but will also create sustainable value for business, societies and the world at large.”
Providing CNLNG to its customers is also a method by which Hiroshima Gas intends to stay ‘on track’ with sustainability goals.
