Malaysian oil giant PETRONAS has announced the completion of its maiden carbon neutral liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo delivery to Shikoku Electronic on Shikoku Island, Japan.
Dispatched from its Petronas LNG Complex (PLC) in Bintulu, the cargo arrived yesterday (17th August 2021) in Sakaide LNG terminal.
To offset the estimated life cycle carbon footprint of the LNG generated through Petronas’’ acquiring and transport of the LNG, it utilised the renewables-based carbon credit system, verified by the Verified Carbon Standard programme.
Commenting on the delivery, Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President & Group CEO, Petronas, said, “Reflecing our support fo the energy transition and in line with out Statement of Purpose, Petronas will continue diversifying our products and offerings to the market, while transforming ourselves to be a cleaner and more sustainable energy provider.”
