PGS awarded seismic acquisition contract for UK CCS project

Norway’s Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) has been awarded a contract by oil and gas giant bp to deliver carbon capture and storage (CCS) 3D seismic acquisition over the Endurance reservoir off the UK coast.

The project is scheduled to begin in April 2022 at the reservoir site located about 90 miles (145 km) off the Teesside coast and around 53 miles (85 km) from the Humber coast and is due for completion in June. 

It is part of the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) which comprises bp, National Grid, Equinor, Shell, Total and ENI and aims to provide Net Zero Teesside and the East Coast Cluster common infrastructure needed to transport CO2 from industrial emitters to secure offshore storage in the North Sea.
