Plans are in the pipeline for construction of one of the world’s largest carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities, to be built in Norway and affording Mitsubishi Heavy Industries with a recent contract to carry out technical pre-studies.
The Gassnova SF CO2 recovery plant is planned to capture approximately 3000 metric tons of CO2 from flue gas emitted from an existing 420 MW gas fired power generation plant in Kårstø, on Norway’s southwest coast.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI) has signed a contract to carry out the technical pre-studies, Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) for the planned CO2 capture plant.
If the FEED study is considered to be qualified, MHI will be granted to take part in the competition of constructing the facility, which is the one of the world’s largest such projects.
