Praxair performs groundbreaking ceremony for Indian ASU

Praxair has recently performed a groundbreaking ceremony for an onsite industrial gas plant in India

The company had recently been awarded a contract by the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) to build, own and operate a cryogenic air separation plant at SAIL’s Durgapur Steel Plant, north of Kolkata.

With a capacity of 700 metric tons per day (MTPD), the plant is set to meet SAIL’s gaseous oxygen requirements as well as supply the growing demand for liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon from customers in eastern India.

Mr V Shyamsundar, managing director, Durgapur steel plant, said; $quot;The oxygen from this plant would be used for increasing oxygen injection in blast furnaces to further improve productivity.$quot;
