Praxair prices reflect rapidly rising costs

Praxair Distribution, Inc. is notifying its industrial, medical and specialty gas cylinder customers in the US and Canada of price increases effective as of 1st September 2008, or as otherwise permitted by customer contracts.

The increases come as a result of rapidly rising energy ad operational costs, with helium, hydrogen and rare gases to be increased by around 30%, and a 15% rise to be implemented on oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide/dry ice, and specialty gases.

A 15% rise will also be incurred on cylinder rental and facility fees, while equipment and consumables are to be affected by a 5% cost increase.

Praxair notes that in some circumstances, price adjustments may be higher or lower than these percentages.
