Strengthening its already robust position as the world’s leading producer of nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), Air Products has announced it is to expand production at its plants in the busy electronics markets of Schulflkill County and Korea.
Overall, the company’s production capacity of the gas, used as an efficient cleaning agent in the manufacturing of semiconductors and other electronics, will increase 28% to 3,200 tpy – when all projects are complete as expected in the first half of 2009.
NF3 production at the company’s Hometown plant has been increased incrementally since spring 2007, to reach 2,200 tpy, while in Korea Air Products will double production at its Ulsan plant to 1,000 tpy.
