QuestAir Technologies Inc. has announced today that testing of its prototype H-6200 hydrogen purifier, at an ExxonMobil affiliate refinery in France, was successfully completed in March, having been operating under test conditions since late October 2007 and performing well under these.
The unit has now been placed in commercial use and incidentally, following completion of the test QuestAir and ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (EMRE) are progressing with marketing efforts to commercially deploy the technology more broadly.
Commenting on the prototype test, Jonathan Wilkinson, President and CEO of QuestAir stated, “The successful completion of the testing of the H-6200 hydrogen purifier demonstrates the robustness of the rapid cycle technology. We believe that the H-6200 will provide refinery customers with significant benefits compared to conventional pressure swing adsorption, and we will be actively working with EMRE to commercialise this product.”
QuestAir has been working with EMRE since 2003 to develop a large capacity rapid cycle pressure swing adsorption system, marketed as the H-6200, for use in oil refineries and petrochemical plants. This product is anticipated to offer advantages relative to other hydrogen recovery options including lower total erected costs, superior recovery performance, and improved operability.
