QuestAir purifier now in continuous operation in France

QuestAir Technologies Inc. has announced that its prototype H-6200 hydrogen purifier has been started up at an ExxonMobil refinery in France and will now be tested and monitored for several weeks to ensure that all sub-systems are operating as designed.

The H-6200 purifier unit will be placed into continuous operation at the refinery, in order to generate additional data under a variety of process conditions to assist with the broad commercial deployment of the product.

Jonathan Wilkinson, president and CEO of QuestAir, said, “The full scale commercial test of the H-6200 hydrogen purifier will be a gradual and controlled process, reflecting the fact that this installation is the first of its kind. This is another milestone towards the commercialization of the novel hydrogen purifier that QuestAir and ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (EMRE) have been developing since 2003.”

QuestAir has been working with EMRE since 2003 to develop a large capacity rapid cycle pressure swing adsorption system, marketed as the H-6200, for use in oil refineries and petrochemical plants. This product is anticipated to offer advantages relative to other hydrogen recovery options including lower total erected costs, superior recovery performance, and improved operability.
