Asia is the world’s largest and most populous continent, covering 8.7% of the Earth’s total surface area and around 30% of its land area. With approximately 4.3 billion people, it hosts no less than 60% of the world’s current human population too. Given its size and diversity, the region differs widely both among and within its regions with regard to ethnic groups, cultures, environments, economics, historical ties and government systems.
And in the modern era, Asia boasts a suitably high growth rate to match.
Central Asia is the core region of the Asian continent, stretching from the Caspian Sea in the west to China in the east, and from Afghanistan in the south to Russia further north. Encompassing the five republics of the former Soviet Union too – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – and Central Asia is an emerging market for the industrial gas sector.
