American carbon capture services company Navigator CO2 Ventures (Navigator) has been welcomed by the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) as an associate member.
The company, which provides carbon capture services such as product gathering, transportation and sequestration, is currently forging ahead with its Heartland Greenway project.
The project is an industrial-scale carbon capture system that spans Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota and will allow companies to reduce their carbon footprint by capturing and transporting carbon dioxide (CO2) to a permanent sequestration site through 1,200 miles of pipeline.
Speaking about the addition of Navigator, Geoff Cooper, President and CEO, RFA, said, “Carbon capture, utilisation, and sequestration is an important part of the industry’s strategy for ensuring ethanol reaches net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner.”
