Safe Delivery Source (SDS) sales up 25 %

Sales of a new cylinder filling method are expected to increase 25 per cent to 2500 cylinders in Japan this year.

Safe Delivery Source (SDS) is a completely new method in which an adsorbent is packed with a gas when the cylinder is filled. The system was developed by a US firm, ATMI in 1994, with supply in Japan commencing in 2002.

Ajith Uvais, marketing manager of ATMI Japan MLS/Safe Gas Source division, predicts that adoption of SDS would grow at the 300 mm wafer plants which have full production or are continuously expanding their facilities. “The number of cylinders should reach 2,500 in 2006, an increase of 25 per cent over the previous year.”
