Italian oilfield services company, Saipem, has announced its technological solution for the production of green hydrogen and the conversion of oil and gas facilities.
The solution, named SUISO, is Saipem’s response to the growing demand for green hydrogen production. Production is fuelled by various renewable energy sources such as floating solar, floating wind and marine energy in a single system.
By utilising these forms of energy, green hydrogen can be produced through electrolysers installed on existing offshore platforms.
The technology also allows for the conversion of oil & gas offshore facilities which have reached the end of their life cycle. Any resulting oxygen can be used in the aquaculture or seaweed production industries.
