The Sakhalin-2 LNG plant has produced 50 million tonnes of LNG since it came online as Russia’s first LNG production plant – the company has announced.
Since the start of this Russia’s first LNG production the company supplied 769 cargoes of LNG. The bulk of the product has been shipped to Japan and South Korea. Also, LNG from Sakhalin-2 has been delivered to China, India, Thailand and Taiwan. The output of both plant’s trains is already contracted under long-term agreements.
The production has been launched in February 2009, and in less than 18 months has reached its full design output of 9.6 million tonnes of LNG per year. Continuous improvements that have been implemented since 2010 allowed for 10% increase in production. Today the plant contributes to over 4% of global LNG supplies.
The company’s shareholders are affiliated companies of OAO Gazprom (50% + 1 share), Royal Dutch Shell plc. (27.5% — 1 share), Mitsui and Co. Ltd. (12.5%) and Mitsubishi Corporation (10%).
