Sembcorp Industries, Chiyoda Corporation and Mitsubishi Corporation want to develop a commercial-scale, decarbonised hydrogen supply chain in Singapore as part of a newly inked Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Formalising the collaboration on Monday (4th Oct), the trio said they will explore cost-effective hydrogen production at offshore locations. Hydrogen produced at these sites will then be shipped back to Singapore for use in various applications.
For such transportation, it is believed the use of Chiyoda’s hydrogen storage and transportation technology, used in liquid organic hydrogen carriers, will be explored. The technology releases hydrogen from methylcyclohexane.
Looking further afield, it is hoped the joint effort will also promote further hydrogen and low-emission technology initiatives to create hydrogen hubs across the region
