Sempra Infrastructure has amended its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Betchel Energy for Port Arthur LNG in Jefferson County, Texas.
In a statement released on Thursday (20th Oct), the firm said the amended contract for the proposed phase one liquefaction project under development in the US now includes an updated price of $10.5bn.
Described by Justin Bird, CEO of Sempra Infrastructure, as a “critical step” in advancing phase one of Port Arthur LNG towards a final investment decision, the milestone will help the US’ position in the LNG market.
Once complete, the site is expected to include two natural gas liquefaction trains and LNG storage tanks, along with associated facilities capable of producing up to approximately 13.5 million tonnes per annum of LNG.
