Sempra and Engie agree LNG supply deal

Energy infrastructure firm Sempra Infrastructure will supply utilities company Engie with LNG from Phase 1 of its proposed Porth Artur LNG project under development in Jefferson County, Texas.

Under a deal signed today (6th Dec), Engie will purchase approximately 0.875 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG over a 15-year period.

The agreement also looks to lower the carbon intensity of LNG produced from the project through greenhouse gas emission reduction, mitigation strategies, and a continuous improvement approach.

Port Arthur LNG sits on a 3,000-acre site in Jefferson County, Texas and is expected to include two natural gas liquefaction trains and LNG storage tanks and associated facilities capable of producing up to 13.5mtpa of LNG.
