Sempra Infrastructure will supply RWE Supply & Trading with 2.25 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquified natural gas (LNG) from the Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project under development in Jefferson County, Texas.
The energy infrastructure firm recently signed a long-term sale and purchase agreement with the RWE subsidiary for 15 years. Andree Stracke, CEO of RWE Supply & Trading, said the deal is another important step to diversity Germany’s gas supply and contributes to supply security in Europe on a long-term basis.
Port Arthur LNG sits on a 3,000-acre site in Jefferson County, Texas and is expected to include two natural gas liquefaction trains and LNG storage tanks and associated facilities capable of producing up to 13.5mtpa of LNG.
Sempra Infrastructure recently announced it has entered into long-term agreements with ConocoPhillips, INEOS and Engie for the sale and purchase of approximately 7.3 mtpa of LNG from the proposed Phase 1 project.
