Seventh hydrogen contract in three years for BOC

A further hydrogen supply contract has been signed by BOC in the US.

The group has now signed seven hydrogen supply contracts in the last three years to supply refineries in the States – the latest is for a new plant in Salt Lake City, Utah, in an investment said to be nearly $50 million.

This plant will supply Chevron and Holly Corporation’s Utah subsidiary with hydrogen for cleaner fuels production at their refineries. The refiners are upgrading their facilities to comply with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s lower-sulphur requirements for gasoline and diesel fuels.

Hydrogen and steam will be taken from BOC’s plant at Chevron – additional hydrotreating capacity is currently being installed at the site which produces 49,000 barrels per day.
