SGP BioEnergy to produce green hydrogen at ‘largest’ advanced biofuel facility

Clean energy company SGP BioEnergy (SGP) has announced that it plans to produce green hydrogen at its planned advanced bio refinery in Colon and Balboa, Panama – a facility that will be the largest of its kind.

With production set to begin in 2025, once fully operational the biorefinery will produce 180,000 barrels of biofuel per day and 405,000 metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually.

Calling it a ‘model of the future of the energy transition’, Randy Delbert Letang, CEO of SGP stated that by adding green hydrogen production, the company will also decarbonise the manufacturing process itself.

“It is the first time both advanced biofuels and green hydrogen will be produced together at this scale, and we are excited to be bringing this innovation to Panama.”
